6 Things To Do Before You Turn 30

Girl on Car

Turning 30 can be scary (remember that Friend’s episode where they all remember how bad they took turning the big 3-0?) but it’s not all bad. Here are some of the perks: You finally are out of your post-college blues and realizing how awesome it is to never have homework anymore. You have settled into a routine that allows you to work, sleep and eat like a functional human (no more 2 AM Cup-A-Noodles) and you’ve probably traveled to some pretty cool places either for work or leisure. See, it’s not all bad!

Now that you’ve done the work, it’s time to enjoy and here are some ways you should upgrade your life and literally celebrate turning 30!

Get New Sheets

Ditch those college sheets and replace them with higher quality ones. The minimum you should look for are 400 thread count and that isn’t even premium fair. Also, they don’t have to be expensive, you can get great sheets at your local Target.

Clean Out Your Digital Feed

You are a busy adult now and don’t have time to be spending on things that don’t add value to your life. Unfollow Instagram accounts that don’t inspire you or bring you joy and invest your time in some new valuable apps that might help you learn something like a new language app, coding app or even some new podcasts.

Buy a New Car

Still driving the car your parents got you as a graduation present? I get it, but if you live in a city that requires a car, chances are you are spending anywhere from 1-3 hours it a day! Your car should be an extension of your home and while car-buying can be a scary experience it doesn’t have to be.

Get Physical

If you’re anything like me, physical activity is not your strong suit. No really, I would die first in the Hunger Games. I wouldn’t even put up a fight, just take me. A few years ago I made it a goal to run a 5k, mind you my average pace for 1 mile was like 15 minutes) so this was a challenge to say the least. Ever wanted to learn how to play tennis? Join a kickball team? Heck even a Bocce ball counts. Your body will start to slow down eventually so this is the time to pick up any activity of your choice.

Adopt The 5 Minute Rule

If it takes less than 5 minute then do it right now. I adopted this philosophy as one of my New Year’s Resolutions this year and honestly, it’s been life-changing. We don’t realize that many of the things that are hogging up our do to lists are actually very easy to accomplish. Loading the dishwasher? 5 Minutes. Cleaning the counters? 5 Minutes. Sorting the laundry? 5 minutes. If it takes less than 5 minutes – do it right now.

There are so many things that are on our milestone lists, but the most important thing is to focus on objectives that make you grow as a person and find a life full of good health and joy. Are there any things that are on your milestone lists that I missed? Leave me a comment and let me know!
