When I was younger, the one thing that got me out of all of my chores was my love for reading. I would spend my entire allowance on books from those Scholastic book catalogs. I swear one year in 4th grade I spend all of my birthday money on $90 of books – how that’s even possible for an 8-year-old, no idea. However, what I do remember is my parent’s being livid and getting me a library card the next day. Now that I’m older and reading for pleasure is harder to do, I try to read a variety of books from people that I look up to. Below are 5 books that I am obsessed with right now and are perfect for a #girlboss!

GIRLBOSS BY SOPHIA AMORUSO

I just finished this book and never wanted to put it down. I felt like I was so inspired to build my brand while reading this. One of my favorite parts was when Sophia talked about the value of hard work. It’s so refreshing to hear that it’s not supposed to be easy. Love it, read it.

‘IS EVERYONE HANGING OUT WITHOUT ME?” BY MINDY KALING

I have to admit, I didn’t actually read this one. I listened to it as an audiobook – twice. Mindy Kaling is like the best friend you wish you had. She’s smart, charming, successful, and so incredibly funny. I almost want to suggest that you listen to the audiobook vs reading it. Mindy’s book in her actual voice is fantastic.

STYLE BY LAUREN CONRAD

This is what is on my bedside table right now. I’m a huge fan of Lauren Conrad (but you already knew that). She also has two other books in this series “Celebrate” and “Beauty” – can’t wait to read them all!

LEAN IN BY SHERYL SANDBERG

No Girlboss reading list would be complete without ‘Lean In’. If you haven’t read it – you need to. Then wait a few months, and read it again. Sheryl is an outstanding orator and an equally impressive writer. This book will have you armed with the knowledge that you need to shatter your own personal glass ceiling.

I AM MALALA BY MALALA YOUSAFZAI

This is next on my list of books that I need to read. Malala’s story is such an inspiration and I can’t wait to read about her lifelong commitment to fighting illiteracy in her own words.

Have you read any of these books? Did I miss any?

  10. I LOVED Girl Boss! Reading it was like having a tough love conversation with a good friend. I’ve never heard of Lean In but it will probably be the next on my list.
